Pace - Jacks CupThe Pace Centre

This centre provides intensive daily programmes for children with physical and/or learning disabilities aged from 0-12 years old.

Grant recieved: £1000 from Sport Relief

What for: The Children's Challenge.  This is a special sporting challenge for children to take part in sponsored events, to help them achieve the goals they would like to conquer.

Jack has a servere form of athetoid cerebral palsy which means that all his movements are jerky and uncoordinated.  he finds it very hard to target objects with his hands and follow his hand movement with his eyes.  Jack's challenge was to sit alone and release up to ten beanies into the basketball goal in 5 minutes.  He practised for several weeks and not only he not only earnt his sponsorship money but also benefits from the targetting skills he has learnt.

The challenge not only taught Jack this essential life skill but taught him that he could achieve something that with lots of effort and determination.  Tears were shed when Jack received his cup for outstanding effort!
