Bucks CF's Stories
Our first Treasurer's Story by the late Bill McDonald
The comments below were written in 2008 by the Foundation's first Treasurer Bill McDonald, who served as Treasurer from 1998 to 2011. Sadly Bill passed away on 7th February 2012, but we leave these comments below as a tribute to a fine and humble servant of local communities in Buckinghamshire. he will be much missed by all who knew him.
"Having retired from a career in International Banking, I was asked to join the other originating Trustees tasked by the late Sir Nigel Mobbs with setting up the Community Foundation for Buckinghamshire. Volunteering is all about being committed and having the time to dedicate to the challenge and I have found that the role has created a momentum that means I have to be aware of the obligations of the position.
My responsibilities are to the donors in ensuring that their generosity is used to benefit the worthy cause to the greatest possible degree, meeting the statutory and regulatory needs of the Foundation, and ensuring that the cash reserves are always sufficient, and that the organisation's finances are run in a timely manner."
