Start a Named Fund
A Named Fund gives you the opportunity to have a Fund in your Company name or a name of your choice. You choose charitable groups to receive grants from your Fund. You are actively involved in setting the criteria for specific areas or issues for grants.
You can specify the type of beneficiary which you wish to support. These could be children and young people, offenders, the elderly or those who for whatever reason are unable to participate fully in an active life in Buckinghamshire.
By starting your own Named Fund, we manage those requests on your behalf. You put them in touch with us and we take them through an application process and assessment – if we can't fund them through your fund we will do our best to find other funds available for them.
Let us take the strain and cost of your financial support for local communities in Buckinghamshire!
Starting your own Fund in the name of your Company is a tax efficient way of giving where the benefit to the charity may be many times more than the cost to the donor.
Companies can claim a deduction on the gift of shares for Corporation Tax purposes in addition to the relief from Corporation Tax on Capital Gains.
Businesses can get tax relief when they give money, whether as a one-off or a regular payment. From April 2000, all gifts of money qualify for tax relief under the Gift Aid Scheme. There is no limit to the amount which the company can give. The company makes a gross payment to the charity through Gift Aid and deducts the amount when working out its Corporation Tax. Charities cannot reclaim any tax on donations from companies.
The there are two options for investing in your Named Fund:
An Endowment Fund
Your Fund will benefit our county in the future. You can start this Fund with a minimum investment of £25,000.
With your Endowment Fund, the interest income generated is drawn down annually. A management fee of 1.25% of the Fund total including interest gained is taken first and the remainder given away as grants.
The grant awards are made in line with the charitable wishes of your Fund Agreement and with your prior consent, if desired.
Flow Through Fund
Your Named Flow Through Fund will benefit the areas and communities of your choice immediately. You can start this Fund with a minimum investment of £2,000.
Because we're making grants from this fund straightaway we charge a management fee of 10% to cover the cost of our processing. Grant awards are made in line with the charitable wishes of your Fund Agreement and with your prior consent, if desired.
When the money runs out in your Fund, you can decide if you would like to top it up or even make it an endowment for the future!
