Financial Management
Our funding comes from three main areas:
- Individual philanthropists in Buckinghamshire.
- Companies in the County who have a positive view on Corporate Social Responsibility.
- External agencies and trusts, e.g. Sport Relief, who use the Foundation's recognised specialist knowledge in local charitable giving and community needs in making charitable grants.
Our responsibilities are to our donors in ensuring that their generosity is used to benefit all worthy causes to the greatest possible degree, meeting the statutory and regulatory needs of the Foundation. This means ensuring that the cash reserves are always sufficient and that the organisation's finances are professionally organised.
How is the Endowment Fund invested?
The money is professionally invested by Coutts, M&G and CAF. The profile is low-risk with an objective of above average income and protection of capital. The Trustees regularly review the split between equities and fixed interest products.
How is Endowment Fund for 'Flow Through' money ring-fenced?
The money is allocated to separate accounts in our Sage accounting system. We are able to report fully on the grants made, the interest gained and the balance of each fund at any time.
What happens if the money in my 'Flow Through' fund is spent before the end of the 12 month period, or if there is still money left at the end?
If the money is entirely spent before the end of the 12 month period, then the donor will be advised and will have the choice about whether the fund is topped up, or wait until the end of the period and re-establish the fund. If by the end of the twelve months an amount from the fund remains unallocated then it will be rolled over and used for the purpose it was donated.
Your 'Flow Through' Fund will exist for as long as there is money in the "pot". Because your fund is a charitable donation any money left is not refunded to the donor.
