About the Buckinghamshire Foundation

Bekonscot Model Village

The Buckinghamshire Foundation is unique, indeed all community foundations are unique, in that they are charities which support many different good causes. For example RNLI, NSPCC and RSPB all have specific causes on which their efforts are exclusively concentrated. Community Foundations exist to help any organisation, particularly small organisations, who themselves are dedicated to improving the quality of living in their own communities. We promote activity at grass roots level within the community in a multitude fields addressing specific local needs.  The Buckinghamshire Foundation has a county wide reach and has been making a difference for nearly 10 years. To achieve our objectives we actively seek funds from government, individuals and companies who want to make a local donation where it matters most.

The Buckinghamshire Foundation has around 150 individual friends and around 50 corporate supporters.  The majority choose to make an annual donation, but increasingly we are attracting donors to our Named Funds programme.  By establishing a Named Fund, a donor is able to specify which area of benefit they wish their donation to support, either geographically or by need.  Please have a look at the Named Funds page on this website to learn more.

One of the most effective methods for a donor to achieve a true lasting effect via The Buckinghamshire Foundation is by making a contribution to our Endowment Fund. The capital in our Endowment Fund is retained and professionally invested. Only the income is paid out in the various grants we make. That way the positive effects our grants make can be continued in perpetuity and donors have the knowledge that their gifts will have an impact for years to come. The Buckinghamshire Foundation's Endowment Fund currently stands at approximately £635,000. The Buckinghamshire Foundation challenge is to reach £5 million by 2013 and we have an active fund bulding strategy underway. You can help by going to The Endowment Fund page on this website.
The Buckinghamshire Foundation is managed by a non executive board of trustees, together with an office staff of five part timers.  We are always pleased to hear from anyone who wishes to learn more, so please contact us on 01296 330134 if you have any further questions.
